- Explorations in Kindness
- An exploration of the application of contemplative practices from a variety of wisdom traditions to foster kindness and compassion in the world.
- Explorations in Kindness Vol. 4 (11/23/2008)
- Meditation and other contemplative practices have begun to move into the mainstream and out of the realm of only those spiritually seeking. Most notably, in the late 80s and early 90s, Jon Kabat-Zinn, M.D. singlehandedly brought mindfulness meditation into mainstream medicine with the founding of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
- Explorations in Kindness Vol. 3 (8/26/2008)
- My interest in compassion fatigue arose out of teaching about the inner and outer dynamics of violence for a decade at the University of Virginia and hearing how overwhelmed and bewildered my students were in the face of the world's problems and how much they cared. I learned from them that even if we are not working on the front lines or taking care of sick or dying family members, due to the saturation of violence in our world today, particuilarly in the media, we are all subject to the dialectic of Secondary Traumatic Stress (STS).
- Explorations in Kindness Vol. 2 (7/28/2008)
- Dogs take play for granted. We have a lot to learn from them. Many of us have forgotten the art of play. Play is anything that involves spontaneity, creativity, the use of the imagination, the use of our bodies in athletic or fun ways, and relaxation.
- Explorations in Kindness Vol.1 (5/8/2008)
- In this newsletter, I will provide you with a combination of the best knowledge from the western sciences about PTSD, Secondary traumatic stress, and other effects of stress and violence in our world along with the best ways to rebuild our strengths, restore resilience, and find healing from many healing and wisdom traditions worldwide.

- Shamanism in a New Age
- Current research and in-depth thinking on the re-emerging healing systems and spiritual movements in the Western world gifted by and adapted from the indigenous peoples worldwide.
- The World Needs Healing (11/16/2009)
- I am a carrier of a mesa, a beautiful, multicolored bundle containing various power objects and stones used for moving energy in service of healing. A more commonly known term in the West might be a "medicine bundle". This powerful shamanic healing tool has been brought from the Peruvian Andes and elsewhere in Latin America to the outside world through a variety of western teachers.
- Shamanism in a New Age (3/29/2009)
- I contacted explorer, Jon Turk after reading his 2008 article in the Shaman's Drum, "Reaching for Otherworlds: A Healing in Siberia." In it, he described a healing he experienced by an old shaman named Moolynaut.
- Ancient Healing for Contemporary Challenges (10/27/2008)
- Welcome to "Shamanism for a New Age", a new bi-monthly newsletter for MettaKnowledge for Peace friends and colleagues who are interested in the shamanic healing dimensions of the work that I do.
